General Description

As the name is intended to indicate, this family consists of viruses infecting alveolates and which have a ssRNA genome.

Morphology

Virions isometric (icosahedral) and approximately 30 nm in diameter.

Genomen

Monopartite positive sense single-stranded RNA of about 4.4 kb with a stem loop structure at the 3'-end. There are two ORFs, one encoding an RNA polymerase and the other the coat protein.
