Contents

General Description

This is one of the genera in the family Leviviridae. Members have a genome of more than 4 kb which does not encode a separate lysis gene.

Morphology

Virions isometric (icosahedral), not enveloped, c. 26 nm in diameter.

Genome

Monopartite, linear, postive sense ssRNA of 4-4.5 kb.

Genus Genomic Organization

There are 4 separate proteins encoded, including a capsid protein, a capsid protein readthrough, and a replicase.

Type Member Genomic Organization

The 4 encoded proteins are
  • A protein, 48.5 kDa (required for attachment and virion maturation)
  • Capsid protein, 14.2 kDa
  • Capsid protein with readthrough, 35.8 kDa
  • Replicase, 65.9 kDa
