Notes on Genus: Leishmaniavirus
Type member: Leishmania RNA virus 1-1
This genus contains those members of the family Totiviridae
that infect protozoa and which have particles 33nm in diameter. The name is derived from the genus infected by the type member.
Virions isometric, 33 nm in diameter.
Monopartite, linear, double stranded RNA of about 5200-5300 base pairs.
Genus Genomic Organization
The genome has two large, overlapping ORFs on the positive strand with a small 5'-proximal potential ORF identified in some isolates:

|3. || 87-99 kDa||Polymerase (pol): RNA-dependent RNA polymerase probably expressed as a fusion protein with gag, usually by a ribosomal frameshift |
