bacilliform
Type member: Ourmia melon virus
Contents
General Description
The genus
Ourmiavirus is named from the type member, first described from Ourmia (in Iran). Members of the genus have distinctive bullet shaped particles of several lengths with sharply triangular ends.
Morphology
Bullet-shaped particles, 18.5 nm in mean width, parallel-sided, and of several discrete lengths, 30 nm and 37 nm being the shortest and commonest lengths. Both ends of all particles are sharply triangular in profile.
Genome
Linear single-stranded positive sense RNA of three sizes, approximately 2.8, 1.0 and 0.97 kb.
Genus Genomic Organization
Each segment has a single ORF. RNA1 encodes a putative RNA dependent RNA polymerase (96-98 kDa), RNA2 encodes a putative movement protein (31-32 kDa) and RNA3 encodes the single coat protein (21-24 kDa).
Type Member Genomic Organization
- RNA1 encodes the polymerase (97.5 kDa)
- RNA2 encodes a putative movement protein (31.6 kDa)
- RNA3 encodes the single coat protein (23.8 kDa)
